This research project examines the modern house and variations in domestic space in Québec City between 1920 and 1970. It forms part of an application to the Fonds de recherche du Québec, Society and Culture sector, under the Soutien à la recherche pour la relève professorale programme. Fabio Sedia is the principal investigator. The application was submitted on 6 September 2026 and remains under review.
The research examines the house as a place where architectural models, ways of inhabiting and territorial transformations intersect. Studying precedents, analysing plans and undertaking critical redrawing make it possible to explore the relationships between rooms, the house and its urban context.
The project continues an approach in which drawing is both a language of knowledge and a design tool. The image of the Résidence André-Robitaille illustrates this field of research into domestic modernity in Québec City.
