Koinè

Koinè — Cupole rosse e pagine bianche is an illustration created for the competition “Immaginario arabo-normanno: un patrimonio di storie, sogni e idee” held by the Fondazione Patrimonio UNESCO Sicilia. Submitted in 2016, the work was selected and exhibited at Palazzo Sant’Elia in Palermo from 19 April to 3 May 2017.

A fine line connects a figure of Christ to a church with three red domes. The drawing brings architecture, sacred imagery and gesture into dialogue, leaving much of the sheet white.
